Description:

This bike tour is offered to you to make your dreams come true, to live a unique and unforgettable experience in Madagascar.

Why not consider participating in this organization of a bike trek in the great southeast of Madagascar?

This trip will allow you to discover breathtaking landscapes, meet villagers, see what is hidden in the parks of the intermediate forest, the dry forest ... like lemurs, and take up a challenge.

But this bike ride isn’t a race anyway!

That is why the maximum mileage per day is between 50 km to 80 km for 3 to 6 hours. This movement of all participants is monitored by a surveillance motorcycle, a 4x4 surveillance car and a bicycle mechanic depending on the number of participants.

Thus, everyone can take part in this discovery trip by bike. In addition, the secondary trail is easy to do for all hikers.

HERE IS THE ROUTE:

Route number I: Andohahela National Park and Berenty Reserve

1st stage: Fort-dauphin – Manambaro – Ranopiso – Ankariera – Tsimelahy (Intermediate forest of Andohahela National Park)
Around 7:30 am after breakfast at the restaurant chosen by all participants or proposed by the organizer, we take this RN13 road which joins the village of Akariera about 50km away for the junction towards the village of Tsimelahy with its secondary road about 10km away is rich in a magnificent landscape sheltered by the Anösy mountain range. Right next to this road, like Tolagnaro in Ranopiso, you will find farmers working in their rice fields with their own zebus. And then you cross the road lined with intermediate forest from Akariera to Tsimelahy to finish this first stage by bike. In the afternoon, it is a walk to meet wild animals or the landscape in a loop of about 3,100 km in this intermediate forest of Tsimelahy in the Andohahela National Park. All participants can swim in the natural pool of the park. But be careful not to slip on the very wet and blackened rocks, jump directly into the pool because it is really natural. We do not know the piece of wood inside the pool.

2nd stage: Tsimelahy - Ankariera - Ranomainty - Amboasary - Berenty Reserve
South road of MadagascarAround 8:00 am after breakfast, all participants travel the bad secondary track from Tsimelahy to Ankariera and continue on the RN13 passing through the village of Ranomainty and the sisal plantation of Amboasary before reaching the Berenty reserve. The distance of this trip is therefore about 61 km. All participants enjoy the good restaurant of Berenty before making their circuit to go see the animals of the park in the afternoon. The hotel in Berenty is comfortable. Thus all participants enjoy their stopover in this magnificent place in the south of Madagascar.

3rd stage: Berenty – Amboasary – Ranomainty – Ankariera – Ankazofotsy
Around 7:30 am after breakfast, we leave Berenty to join the large sisal plantation of Amboasary and end the stage in Ankazofotsy at the interpretation center of the Andohahela National Park, about 48km from Berenty.

Route number II: Evatra fishing village and Lokaro Bay with its beautiful landscapes

4th stage: Ankazofotsy - Tolagnaro - Lanirano - Evatra - Lokaro
1st route: Bike from Ankazofotsy via Ranopiso, Manambaro, Tolagnaro to Lake Lanirano
Still around 7:30 am we move our bike for a 50km ride to reach Lake Lanirano in Fort-Dauphin Madagascar for the starting point of this fabulous boat ride on the freshwater canal towards the fishing village of Evatra.
2nd route: Speedboat tour on the freshwater canal from Lanirano to the fishing village of Evatra
No bike for this trip! So we stay seated on the speedboat to see the beautiful landscape and wild birds like the heron on this freshwater canal about an hour away and to quench the fatigue.
3rd itinerary: Walking tour to discover the bay of Lokaro and its fabulous coves
After our lunch, we leave on foot to see the coves and swim in this magnificent bay of Lokaro to end our stage of the day in complete tranquility. The bivouac is therefore in Evatra.

Route number III: The landscape and the beach of Sainte-Luce

Sainte Luce Fort-dauphin Madagascar5th stage: Evatra – Mandromondromotra – Mahatalaky – Ambandrika – Baie de Sainte-Luce
Around 7:30 am after breakfast, we resume the journey by bike to reach the village of Mandromodromotra by the RN12a before arriving at Mahatalaky for the turnoff to the fishing village of Sainte-Luce to taste again grilled lobsters offered by the villager or to swim on the beach. The route has about 60 km of markers full of magnificent landscapes highlighted by the village decorated with lychee plantations, mango trees ... on the islet encircling the rice fields and sheltered by the Tsitongabarika mountain range. This route shows us leaving the dry places of the south and returning to the humid places of the east.

Route number IV: The RN12a from Fort-dauphin to Manakara

Tsitongambarika rainforest park6th stage: Sainte-Luce – Manambato – Manantenina
We take our bikes again to continue the journey in this magnificent place specially classified for hikers to reach the village of Mahatalaky located on the RN12a. Then we continue the road passing through Iabakoho, Mananbato before arriving at Manantenina. It is therefore a route of approximately 85km which is very pretty and fun for all travelers thanks to the crossing by rope and hand ferry to travel on the river. In addition, the people of the village are very welcoming and far from civilization and live better in their own small traveler's cabin in the trees. This journey can take about 6 hours of driving for the cyclist with the picnic stop nearby near the ferry crossing. The hotel in Manantenina is standard; We are therefore far from the comfort hotel.

7th stage: Manantenina – Maroroy – Befasy – Sandravinany
After Manantenina, we pedal the bike to continue its journey on this bad secondary road passing through the village of Maroroy, Befasy before arriving at the village Sandravinany.
Our route remains parallel to the sea and the mountains if the right side is the sea and the left side is the mountain range.
The landscape is therefore fabulous, especially before arriving at Befasy or the road from Befasy to join Sandravinany in a natural plain rich in small stones but without forest.

8th stage: Sandravinany – Somisiky – Manambondro
We take our bike again to finish this large plain not far from the sea. We come across zebus many times as we pass our route. It is an adventure by bike and a good place to stop for a photo while pedaling. But be careful when the bend is hidden by some plant to avoid problems on the road. The track is a bit sandy and full of stones.

9th stage: Manambondro – Masianaka – Vangaindrano
Bac masianakyWe have fun with our bike for this 60 km route bordered by the clove plantation passing through the village of Masianaka before reaching the town of Vangaindrano. Respect the culture of the people here once you have passed, especially in the Masianaka River, because it is forbidden to wear red clothes… But in any case the villagers are very welcoming. In addition, the landscape is magnificent. So you have to have fun taking a photo with them.

10th stage: Vangaindrano – Farafangana
We are on the right road for about 75 km to reach the town of Farafangana. So you must always respect the highway code. The landscape of this route is different from the others because it is embellished with the large rice field. In addition, the village is very pretty, lined with coffee plantations, jackfruit trees...

11th stage: Farafangana – Vohipeno
We get back on our bikes to attack this good asphalt road of about 73 km for 5 or 6 hours of time with photo stops. The landscape remains unforgettable for this route. In addition, the people are always very welcoming.

12th stage: Vohipeno – Manakara
50 km for about 3 hours of time for our bike ride to reach the city of Manakara. But you still have to be careful on this road because of the disturbance of the bush taxis. The place is beautiful. We can therefore make many stops to take souvenir photos and enjoy the magnificent landscape.

Route number V: Ranomafana National Park

13th stage: Manakara - Ranomafana
We take the 182 km road in about 4h30 by car to reach Ranomafana. The landscape on this road is magnificent embellished by the mountain range far from the semi-arid places of the extreme south of Madagascar. The villagers are very welcoming and the villages along this road are very splendid.

14th stage: Visit of Ranomafana
We do everything to please our eyes in order to discover what can be found in the different types of wild animals, endemic plants and reptiles that populate this tropical rainforest of Ranomafana of approximately 41,600 ha. This park is home to about 26 species of nocturnal and diurnal lemurs, many species of nocturnal and diurnal birds, and reptiles...

15th stage: Ranomafana - Mananjary
After visiting this magnificent place in the Ranomafana rainforest territory, we take the road with our car to reach the city of Mananjary passing through the mountain range and its breathtaking landscapes.

Route number VI: Pangalana Canal

16th stage: Speed boat tour on the Pangalana Canal from Mananjary to Nosivarika
Around 7:00 am we board our speedboat to travel this canal which will pass through the village of Ambohitsara before reaching the village of Nosivarika. This speedboat ride is peaceful, far from moving our bike. But in any case we are bothered by the noise of the engine during the journey. The canal offers us landscapes of daily life symbolized by a warm environment populated with legends and beliefs.

17th stage: Speedboat tour on the Pangalanes Canal from Nosivarika to Mahanoro
The journey on the canal continues with a visit to lush vegetation such as the bamboo forest, aquatic plants ... On this canal the fishermen's pirogue crosses this green network of lakes and lagoons that form the famous canal. Passing the mouth of the river with its strong currents which contrast with the calm of the canal constitutes one of the highlights of this day of navigation.

Route number VII: Analamazaotra National Park

18th stage: Road from Mahanoro to Andasibe via Vatomandry and Antsapanana
Following our adventure with the boat on the Pangalana Canal, this is why we change our trip to a car full of our luggage to travel on the 250 km road for 5 h 35 min via the RN11a and the RN2 to reach Andasibe via Vatomandry and Antsapanana. The landscape of this road is very different from the others.

19th stage: Andasibe
We move after breakfast to discover what is hidden in this forest of the Analamazaotra National Park, very famous for the observation of larger lemurs such as the Indri-Indri in its natural environment. But we never forget to discover different types of endemic plants; reptiles and birds in this fabulous place. But apart from this park there are other reserves where you can find many species of lemurs to visit to fully satisfy your presence to fully discover nature in Madagascar.

20th stage: Andasibe - Antananarivo
This is the end of our journey of different types of unforgettable adventure in this place in the great southeast of Madagascar! After breakfast we take the car full of luggage to take this 143 km tarmac road of about 3 hours via the RN2 to reach the city of Antananarivo before noon. And we finish together the separation of the teams at the end of the afternoon in the best bar restaurant in Antananarivo Madagascar.
